Class: This is an introduction to Blender course. Blender is a free 3d software that has been gaining a lot of attention of late. More and more artists are starting to use it in the industry as their primary modeling package. We will go over the basics of Blender and also a high level introduction to animation, rendering and simulations in Blender. There will be assignments each week related to modeling in Blender.

Prerequisite: Some knowledge of 3d software (maya, 3ds max…etc)

Topics covered:

  • Interface and interaction

  • Blender workflow fundamentals

  • Advanced hard surface modeling

  • Procedural modeling with modifiers

  • High-level introduction to animation, rendering, and simulation

Material List: Computers will be provided, we recommend paper/pen for taking notes.

Instructor: Patrick Sutton is a 3D artist with 17 years of experience using a variety of 3D modeling packages. Currently working on the Halo franchise as an environment artist, he has also worked on a variety of other projects as an outsourcer, including Firefall and Wildstar. He is fascinated with mechanical and high-tech objects, and his workflows are centered around the design and production of the same.
